Musician brings to the event a show from the acclaimed album "Xande Canta Caetano."
Considered one of the great releases of 2023, "Xande Canta Caetano," a fair tribute from Xande de Pilares on disc to the Bahian from Santo Amaro da Purificação, will gain another space for its propagation. In this case, the stage of the Coala Festival, which announced the pagode singer as the second confirmed attraction.
Caetano Veloso was moved to tears upon hearing Xande de Pilares' versions of his songbook. "Gente," "Lua de São Jorge," and "Alegria, Alegria" are some of the compositions that have gained a new approach, highlighting the popular character of Caetano's work. Now, the fusion of these universes will be amplified live to thrill the audience of the Coala Festival (in a show with musical direction by Pretinho da Serrinha, also responsible for the musical direction of the album).
This year's edition of the festival celebrates its ten years of existence and, therefore, brings various references to historic moments of a decade of music and connections. Caetano Veloso performed at Coala in 2017 and is in the memories of many people who attended the event that year.
"We always talk about Coala Festival strengthening Brazilian music, and it is not possible to do this completely without reverencing samba. Xande de Pilares' work has immeasurable value, from his time in Revelação to his solo career. It's going to be one of those Coala shows where time seems to stand still. We are looking forward to it," comments Gabriel Andrade, co-founder, and curator of the Coala Festival.
This is the second attraction announced by the Coala production. The first was the 5 a Seco collective, which returns from a hiatus for a show that promises many memories and the creation of new moments.
